When a good person smiles, the whole world attains for a moment to hear it. For years philosophers were debating about this subject, so do many people now. It’s not just being kind to others – it is much complicated than that. Of course, we all have different opinions, but one thing is certain “being good” is not just helping others, it’s the way we act and the way we live. Don’t know is it just me, but even when I hear this word, I feel happy and peaceful.
Why should we become a better person in the new year?
Well, as I’ve already said first you need to think about what “goodness” means to you. I personally think that it has to do with ourselves and what we do for ourselves, too. Imagine in your head your role model and think about the qualities that he/she has. What do they have that you admire and would like to have?
Then think about all thing that you would like to change about yourself.

Fulfill yourself and people around you with love, motivation, and positive thinking. Work hard on your goals and plans for future, invest in yourself is always worth it.
Focus on the good things in your life and be grateful for them. If, for example, you are looking for a job, be grateful for your family and friends that support and help you in doing so. In the end, we forget about many small things and we are not aware of them until something wrong happens. Be grateful for each day you wake up healthy.
Release the defensive attitude
All of you who are always alert for possible threats and danger – relax! Free yourself, but also your environment of various justifications and exclusions because you did not succeed in something. Communicate more with people and try to know them better. Being polite will not kill you, believe me. Even if someone is rude to you, don’t let their behavior determine yours.
Application in practice
Do not waste energy on what you cannot change but keep it for what you can – and that’s your behavior, your actions, and way of thinking.
Learn to forgive
Do it for yourself! You will feel much better if you forgive people. Forgive yourself for all your mistakes and imperfections. They are anyway a source of wisdom; every experience is a lesson.
Do not judge and try to negatively characterize someone’s accident or problem. Try to put yourself in someone else’s shoes and have understanding for other people.
Talk about what you think and think what you are saying – this is the simplest rule to follow. Talk to the person with whom you have a problem, rather than asking other people.
Be a kind and compassionate person
Talk about the things that are positive, kind, and stimulating. Do not waste either energy nor words on insults, gossip, or worst of all – lying. Let go of your anger and focus on more important things, that way you feel much better and enhance your health in general. These emotions can negatively affect your health, and is that a price you want to pay?
Have your integrity
Do what you say you’re going to do. If you see that you will not be able to say it openly. Beware of your words and respect for yourself and others.
Practice self-esteem and be gentle towards yourself and your mistakes. Do not resent and be gentle with all the imperfections you have. By loving yourself you will attract good people.
Surround yourself with people you love and will help you to be a better person.
